2022.01.22 02:36 Cheese-Boy-- Is Taniks (First Encounter) at the front of the room?

My clan has very heated opinions about what the positioning of the room is called. I firmly believe that where Taniks is located, is the front of the room, and others believe that where the raid banner is placed, is the front of the room.
My argument is that Taniks is the focal point of the room therefore resulting in him being in the FRONT of the room. Also there is a windshield behind Taniks.
Their argument is that Taniks is looking at where we enter thus meaning where the raid banner is placed, is the front of the room. Also we enter through the front door. (Ridiculous I know)
I need help settling this argument and I am very petty and if I am wrong I can no longer be friends with these people

2022.01.22 02:36 thistim Monk in a Boat Zen Parable

Weird title right? A while ago I saw this story that really REALLY resonated with me (link: https://www.reddit.com/Buddhism/comments/p5jd2v/anger_is_within_me_thich_nhat_hanh) and I’d love to get a couple designs for a tattoo. If you could take a few moments to read the story, it might help with the idea.
Essentially it’s this: A monk in a boat (rowboat in my mind but up to you, maybe not a swan shaped paddle boat though) with a second empty boat next to or very near by. The idea of the second unoccupied boat having weight or motion would be amazing but I realize the medium isn’t built for fine detail.
The art will go on my forearm so a portrait orientation rather than landscape (I don’t want to hold my chicken wing out for a proper look). I imagine a faceless monk, robed and facing away from us, or perhaps with the hood obscuring his head?
I realize this is terrible description-wise and that’s mainly why I’m asking in the first place. If you’re up to it let me know your price and maybe link your social and I’ll get back to you. I’ve got venmo and PayPal.
If you’re inspired and put art up here for free (you don’t have to, artists gotta eat) and I choose your art, I’ll compensate you or make a donation to a charity in your name.
Here’s hoping, and if nobody responds, that’s cool too! I need to understand how to describe my ideas better and if this is confusing I’ll try again. Thank you.

2) Loopring is the future and leader of L2 tech. Suuuuuure there is other L2 tech out there like Polygon but are they loop? save your voice if you disagree cause it's just poop to the loop.
3) The entire market is down you fuckwit. Loopring dropping to less than a dollar has 0 to do with Looopring and more to do with the market as a whole. China, Kazakhastan, Russia contemplating a crypto ban similar to Chinas, etc. LOOOOOPRING IS NOT THE PROBLEM.
4) HODL what you got and buy the dip as it is cause this is probably as good as it will get til the Market begins to recover in probably Spring.

2022.01.22 02:36 Serious_Library536 Money and resentment

Hey everyone, I've been struggling with heavy shame and fear around disclosing my financial privilege/dependence.
I'm scared of sharing this, so please be nice if possible.
I'm mid-20s, female, going to uni, and living with my partner far away from my parents. Despite having a terrible relationship with my parents they are financially supporting me. By terrible relationship I mean for example I don't feel comfortable sharing much with them about my life, and we haven't communicated beyond texting in years. This is because I had a miserable childhood filled with arguments and over-protection, in which I learnt that I couldn't trust them.
While I know that I'm not the only one whose parents are financially supportive, the shame comes in when considering that we don't even talk. (Not that I think they should be able to 'buy' my affection, but anyway...) In addition, the fact that there's no end in sight. ie. I'm not attempting to get jobs, just the idea of it is terrifying, and there's not really any pressure from my parents to do so.
The financial dependence has led to resentment, surprisingly not from them but from my boyfriend... He usually makes snide comments, but the other day he actually blew up and starting ranting about it in response to me briefly brainstorming what kind of bike I want to buy. He has been struggling a lot with money for quite a while, and puts in a lot of effort to make money ( including to the detriment of his health sometimes :( )
The other aspect of my stress and shame is when it comes to socialising.. I hate being asked what I do for a living. And worse, I hate when people are understanding about my unemployment but then assume that I'm living off unemployment (government help). I feel guilty for putting in less effort and getting more money than others. I feel horrible hearing about people struggling with multiple jobs. So I don't tell people. For one I don't want to make them feel bad, and I also want to avoid the judgement/resentment/my shame.
Sometimes people will say: You're financial situation is no one's business, just don't tell them. And sure, but that's unrealistic when it comes to small talk and close friends being gently curious. Plus I don't want to keep hiding it, it's exhausting. And my boyfriend is well aware of the situation already.
Lastly I want to explain why I don't try to get a job. I have ADHD and a lot of trouble with 'simple' stuff like keeping myself and my clothes clean, and getting places on time, not to mention a ton of social anxiety and hyperhidrosis. I had an extremely embarrassing situation happen at a job I once had, which I want to avoid happening again at all costs. The last reason is because I can 'get away with it'. I don't have to get a job for money, it's more just needed for my mental health...
Thanks for reading if you have! Any thoughts are appreciated

2022.01.22 02:36 wrongleveeeeeeer My shot at a review

I'll say two things about The Gods We Can Touch right out of the gate: firstly, as of now (three listens in) it is not my favorite Aurora album—it's definitely a departure, and has some truly weird stuff going on (though not necessarily in a bad way!). Secondly, it's absolutely fantastic, unique, well-produced, well-written, and interesting as hell.
I daresay it is her best produced album so far. The soundscapes, the instrumentation, the mixing, everything—it all feels so intentional, so pointed, so focused. I think the production is the biggest factor that makes this album so damn interesting. It feels like it was written in 1922, recorded in 1982, and finished up in 2022. There's nothing out there quite like it. Some of the choices were incredibly risky, and not all of them landed for me in the way that I'm sure they were intended, but that kind of just makes me respect it more. I love risks. I love uniqueness. It doesn't have to be "perfect" to be truly enjoyable.
As for the songs themselves: I hate giving things a number rating out of 10, since different songs are intended to be different things (both on their own, and in their position on the album), and can't really be judged directly in relation to each other. I'll just put them into different tiers: "Favorite," "Very Good," "Good," and let's say..."Not My Favorite."
The Forbidden Fruits of Eden: Decent as an introduction to the vibe we'll be getting ourselves into. Not really a "song" in my book, so we'll leave it without a ranking.
Everything Matters: Really makes the statement that this isn't going to be like other Aurora albums. Right out of the gate, Aurora and her team let us know with the guitar sound they chose that this was going to be a bit of a strange Good
Giving Into the Love: A great contrast/follow-up from the song before. It's catchy, I love the lyrics, and I feel physically happy as it swells into the la-da-das. I only wish it was longer. Very Good.
Cure For Me: Probably My least favorite Aurora song of her whole catalog. It grates on me. It doesn't really go anywhere or do anything interesting. In the afterparty of the music video, Aurora said something like "I wanted to create something ugly." Well...mission accomplished. Not My Favorite
You Keep Me Crawling: The verses really showcase a strength of the album: interesting melodies in the verses. Sometimes (not often!), Aurora's songs can be guilty of what I'd say about 90% of pop music is guilty of, which is sleepwalking through the verses to get to the "good part" (the chorus). This song, like so many others on the album, rejects the premise that verses are placeholders to get us to the chorus. It's refreshing. But that doesn't mean we don't get a great chorus! One which really showcases the strong production on the album. The string hits, the vocals, the drums...I don't even care that it's so lyrically simple/repetitive. This song is another one I wish was longer; could've used a proper bridge. Very Good
Exist For Love: Proof that things don't need to be complicated to be great. All you need is a good melody, a good voice, and well-timed entrances and exits of instrumentation (and some truly evocative string lines). I love that she wasn't afraid to make a true, pure, simple love song. Gives me feelings, and then makes my feelings feel feelings. Always makes me think of my wife while I listen :-) Favorite
Heathens: Perhaps my favorite song on the album, but that might just be because I've played the everliving shit out of it since it came out, so it's ground its way through all the pleasure pathways in my brain already, like a river carving a canyon, giving it an unfair leg up on the competition. Lyrically, sonically, melodically, percussively, structurally, vocally...it's just a goddamn perfect song. Favorite
The Innocent: This is one of the songs I was talking about earlier when I mentioned risks. Where Cure For Me falls flat, this song shines. The piano part has no place in this century, and yet here it is, being rad. I'm not usually a fan of piano-centric jazz (Thelonious Monk notwithstanding), but when ideas like this are incorporated into other genres, I can be a real sucker for it. I love the lyrics, especially the opening line. The chorus soars, and Aurora's vocals shine. The string plucks hit just right. Very Good
Exhale Inhale: Another interesting experiment of a song, and I respect it. More fascinating lyrics, a really nice instrumental build, and an engagingly structured piece. I love the vocal effects on the "who is calling me" portion and the "exhale"s. All that being said, it feels...emotionally incomplete? I don't know, it just doesn't make me feel the way I want it too. Good
A Temporary High: The best song Abba never wrote. I love when she goes full pop and just fuckin nails it. A perfectly-crafted banger. Favorite
A Dangerous Thing: Another song that really showcases Aurora's ability to craft interesting, useful, even essential verses. The vocals over the simple guitar of the opening hook you right in, even though there's not a lot going on in the song yet. Lyrically, it's extremely insightful, and that gives it points, as does the fact that it has a fully-formed, lyrically important bridge. Very Good
Artemis: The best verses on the album. Vocally, melodically, and accordionally, this is one of the strangest and strongest tracks on the album. I feel like there's a reason that she only actually names one "god" in the titles of The Gods We Can Touch, and its this song: there's something emblematic about it, something that encapsulates the feel of the album as a whole. And to end with "I always wondered why they always came back for more" in a way that leaves us definitely wanting more...damn, normally it would piss me off, but it's ballsy as hell, and really just works for this song in particular. Very Good
Blood in the Wine: Hell yeah. This song pulls no punches. The contrast between the floaty, stringy verses and the pounding chorus is perfectly executed. More vocal mastery on display, both in the main melody and in the trilling background vocalizations. A really good anthemic, powerhouse display of Aurora's talents. Very Good
This Could Be a Dream: On the surface, it might seem that a song like This Could be a Dream would get stale, being one of the simpler and longer songs on the album. But it's gorgeous! I could listen to this kind of soundscape from her for hours. The chorus is one of the most unremarkably beautiful things I've heard in a long time. That might sound like a backhanded compliment, but it's not; just like Exist For Love, this song proves that a song doesn't have to do anything stupendously unique or bombastic or virtuosic to be great. If you just write the right notes, and sing the right melody, something wonderful can spring forth, greater than the sum of its parts. And it's not just the songwriting—the production shines in its softness and minimalism, lets the simplicity just be, the soft drums emblematic of the thesis that less can, in fact, be more. Favorite.
A Little Place Called the Moon: Aurora and I simply disagree on how to end an album. There seem to be two main schools of thought: end on a soaring high note, or end with a contemplative come-down. Since she and I disagree, you can tell where I land. To me, The Seed should have ended A Different Kind of Human, and a song like Blood in the Wine should have ended TGWCT (Infections of a Different Kind is also not my idea of an ideal closing song, but holy hell, that song is so gorgeous and amazing that I can't imagine anything going after it). But that doesn't speak to the quality of the song itself, which is actually quite nice. It takes a while to get going, which is fine, but doesn't really lead to too much. I really, really wanted to finish with something big. But at the end of an album full of surprises and left turns, why would I have expected to get what I want? Good
All in all, a delight of an album. It flows really well from one song to the next, and maintains a really high quality across 14 songs, despite the wide variety of sounds and song types. I thought about adding another tier or two for fairness' sake, something like "OK" or "fine," but none of the songs, aside from Cure For Me, deserve to be called anything less than good. The Gods We Can Touch is a wonderful, unique album, with a very well-executed, fully-realized vision. Is it perfect? No. But who said it had to be? It's great, and more than that, it's so confidently itself—and that's far more than enough.

2022.01.22 02:36 zjohn98 I am wrong for making a Christian luxury brand?

So I’ve been wanting to make Christian clothing brand for a while now and I finally made a brand. ( www.companyinchrist.com ) I want to be able to build the brand to be able to buy a place to start a church but I don’t know how I feel about it— I’m spreading Gods message with the brand but I feel convicted as if I’m wrong for this. The purpose with the money is solely to start a church in the near future but I’m scared I’ll be looked at wrong for this. I have a talent of graphic design and been making concepts for luxury purses with great reception. I just don’t know if I’m mixing Christianity with the world by doing this. I need advice on this.
